Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and PT. Gama Multi Usaha Mandiri (GMUM) have organised an Opening Ceremony of General & Technical Indonesian Language Training. GMUM will give Indonesian Language Training to managers and engineers of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd. (CCEED), a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). This is to enhance the cross-cultural human resource development program between Indonesia and China. The opening went on Wednesday (15/11) in the Samator Auditorium of UGM in Jakarta.
Attending the event were Head of Language Development in Education and Culture Ministry, Prof. Dr. Gufran Ali Ibrahim, MS., Head of Planning in Research, Technology, and Higher Education Ministry, Dr. Erry Ricardo Nurzal, MT, MPA, UGM Executive Secretary, Drs. Gugup Kismono, MBA, Ph.D., Minister-Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Embassy of China in Indonesia, Mr. Wang Liping, General Manager of The First Company of China Eighth Engineering Bureau. Ltd., Mr. Ha Xiao Ping, and Director of PT Gama Multi Usaha Mandiri, Fuad Rakhman, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., CA.
In his speech, Gugup Kismono said this was an opportunity for both Indonesia and China. This event would benefit both countries because China would be able to learn from Indonesia, while Indonesia would be able to learn about construction from China that is already advanced in this area.
“We hope this interaction can strengthen the relations between Indonesia and China,” said Gugup.
On the other hand, Gufran appreciated the event as it was a form of law implementation. GMUM is seen as having encouraged the use of Bahasa Indonesia as the main language in the country as well as securing jobs in construction. He hoped Indonesia would follow the lead of China, Japan, South Korea, and France that prioritise their own language when making collaborations with foreign partiies.
“If speaking the same language, this would be the key to successful economic cooperation,” said Gufran.
The General & Technical Indonesian Language Training will last for 44 days from 16 November 2017- 29 December 2017. GMUM will give the training in Yogyakarta and Jakarta so that the participants will enjoy the best experience from both cities.
