Students from Faculty of Medicine UGM who join Standing Committee on Public Health Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities (SCOPH CISMA) held free medical check-up for Sardonoharjo community in Sleman regency.
The event was held on Sunday (26/11) at Sardonoharjo Village Hall. The community also obtained an opportunity to do consultation, particularly regarding blood pressure and blood sugar level with the doctors from Indonesian Diabetes Association, and attended a talk show regarding diabetes.
Dyah Puspitaningtyas, one of the committee members, said the medical check-up was purposely held to celebrate the World Diabetes Day 2017 which is on November 14. SCOPH CIMSA UGM conducted the event by collaborating with SCOPH CIMSA UKDW and SCOPH MMSA UMY, raising Taking Steps to Prevent Diabetes as its theme.
“Aside from free medical check-up for the local community, we also hold internal training,” said Dyah.
During the training, the members of SCOPH were trained on how to check the blood pressure and blood sugar level. In addition, they attended a seminar entitled Overview of Diabetes Mellitus which presented dr. Bowo Pramono, Sp.Pd. KEMD(K), representative from Indonesian Diabetes Association.
