Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) collaborating with Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA) held an Alumni Dinner. The event was attended by alumni from various faculties of UGM, UGM Rector, Prof. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, and State Secretary, Prof. Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc.Sc. The event which was enlivened by various cultural performances and handover of scholarship was held on Saturday (16/12) at Balairung, UGM main building.
One of the events was the symbolic scholarship handover from the Association towards students. Two students, Fajar Pamungkas and Jefri Gibson Nababan, symbolically received the scholarship. Aside from those students, there are 10 other students who also obtained the scholarship. Those 10 students are chosen because they are the most active students in the student activity units, thus they deserve to obtain the scholarship.
Rusyidina Dwinanada Chaerani, a student from Communication Sciences UGM, one of the scholarship grantees, said she was glad for the scholarship provided by the alumni. This support could help Rusyidina in fulfilling her study needs. The same response was also delivered by Isnaini Uswatun. As an orphan whose father was sick, Uswatun was very grateful for the support from UGM alumni. There was a time when Uswatun had to sell snacks in the cafeteria to obtain money. After obtaining the scholarship, she did not sell the snack anymore, thus she could focus on her study.
“We hope this scholarship can be utilized for our study, thus we can do the same thing by providing a scholarship in the future,” said Uswatun.
The Rector delivered his appreciation towards the Association for their support towards UGM students. Panut delivered his gratitude for their incredible commitment for UGM. “The alumni association is friendly and solid. In addition, they give a significant contribution by providing a scholarship for UGM students who are in need,” said Panut.
