Alumni of Agricultural Technology Faculty of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA – TP) and UGM Guyub Rukun (UGR) community have delivered aid for schools in Gunungkidul regency impacted by Cempaka tropical cyclone.
The aid is in the form of practicum tools and food which was distributed on Sunday (14/1) in SMK N 1 Tanjungsari and SMPN 3 Saptosari schools.
KAGAMA – TP Chairman, Dr. Saiful Rochdiyanto, said the aid was a form of empathy from the alumni to the people impacted by the Cempaka cyclone in November 2017. Saiful said the aid focused on helping the schools that were impacted and inundated. Sudiarto, Headmaster of SMKN 1 Tanjungsari, extended gratitude to the alumni. “We will use this aid to support education programme in the school,” he said.
At SMPN 3 Saptosari school, the alumni came to see the impacts of the floods that had damaged office equipment, books, and lab tools.
Mulyono, Headmaster of SMPN 3 Saptosari, said the aid from KAGAMA –TP and UGR would increase the spirit of the teachers and students in their studies.
“Some supporting educational tools have been provided in this aid, for which we are greatly indebted,” said Mulyono.
Representatives from UGR, Drs. Heru Marwata, M.Hum, said the aid was a form of care that had been collected among UGM lecturers.
“We donate the aid for the schools so that their mental condition recovers. Hopefully in the future a good cooperation will materialise with UGM,” he said.
