Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) students, Mhd. Ikram Alfansa (Law 2017) and Hasnabila Candrakanti (Management 2016), each has become Best Delegate (first winners) in UNHRC and UNESCAP Councils during Thammasat University Model United Nations 2018 competition that last from 12-14 January 2018 in United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

Besides, William Help (International Relations 2017) has won Best Position Paper and Outstanding Delegate of UNESCAP while Nisrina Husnul Khotimah (International Relations 2016) has won Best Position Paper of ASEAN Historical Committee.

“I was very enthusiastic joining this competition, moreover this was my first time to compete abroad. I was thankful I had earned the Best Delegate award,” said Ikram on Thursday (18/1).

The four UGM MUN Community members have successfully made UGM proud at the international level. Thammasat University Model United Nations 2018 is the fourth edition of the international conference organised by Thammasat University to train participant’s skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking. This year students from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Russia, Cambodia, and France took part in the conference.

Each council has withdrawn around 20-25 delegates from various universities in the region. After debates and lobbies in seven sessions, the four UGM students finally brought home the awards, making UGM the university that won the most titles.
