FKH UGM Gelar Munas I AKIVI

Faculty of Veterinary Sciences UGM hosted the first National Conference for Veterinary Association, Interna Veteriner Indonesia (AKIVI).
The conference aims to establish new committees after the previous one from 2012-2016 has completed duties.

“The conference is organised to establish the new committee of AKIVI,” said event chairman, Prof. Dr. drh. Ida Tjahayati, M.P., on the sidelines of the conference in the Auditorium of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM on Tuesday (26/3).

Ida said the conference also hosted seminars on the disease in small animals. According to Ida, problems and barriers often faced veterinarians treating internal diseases found in small animals, such as diarrhea, edema, or icterus. “Those types of diseases are often found by veterinarians in their clinic, so the conference may cast new insight on the participants,” she said.

Ida said there were 111 vets participating in the conference, coming from Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Magelang, Purwokerto, Karawang, Bogor, Jakarta, Tangerang, Serang, Tasikmalaya, Kediri, Jember, Malang, Samarinda, Bali, and Makasar. Speakers include Dr. Irkham Widiono from UGM, Prof. Bambang Sektiari from Universitas Airlangga, Dr. Cucu from Practising Veterinarians Association and Dr. Setyo Widodo from IPB.

In his speech Drh. Irkham explained cases of diarrhea in dogs and cats, Prof. Bambang cases of edema in small animals, while Setyo Widodo cases of icterus in dogs and cats. The conference was opened by Dean of UGM, Prof. Dr. drh. Siti Isrina Oktavia Salasia, and Chairperson of AKIVI, Dr. Setyo Widodo.
