This was stated when conferring Honoris Causa doctoral degree in education to Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng, on Tuesday (10/4) in Seosan, South Korea. Hanseo University is a university that has established partnership with over 100 universities in the world. With Indonesian organisations, Hanseo University has partnered with just UGM. Each year students of Hanseo are sent to Indonesia to do social work.
While in Indonesia, those students join student community service programme in villages around Yogyakarta to develop agricultural technology, building bridges, and teaching judo at schools.
Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea, Umar Hadi, who attended the event also appreciated the dedication of UGM academics in science and for the general public. The Ambassador expressed his wishes for a closer cooperation between Hanseo and UGM.
“I hope this momentum would strengthen the academic exchange between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Hanseo University and strengthen the friendship between Indonesia and South Korea,” said Umar.
Congratulating the degree conferment, he said this was a form of recognition for the involvement of Panut and UGM in resolving national problems.
“I was happy and proud of Prof. Panut Mulyono for this recognition. I would also like to congratulate Hanseo University that has encountered an important figure that dedicates himself to achieve academic excellence and engagement in social problems,” said Ambassador Umar.
