Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., visited 6 universities in Taiwan from April 25-28, 2018. The six universities include National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Tunghai University, National Central University (NCU), Taipei Medical University (TMU), and Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TVGH).
Director of Partnership, Alumni and Global Initiatives UGM, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., explained that the Rector visited Taiwan to attend the invitation of President of National Central University for the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games (NIAG) of 2018, which was attended by several university rectors in Taiwan and Vice President of Republic of China (Taiwan).
“In addition, the visit was aimed to establish an academic cooperation, such as exchange program for students and lecturers, double masters degrees, international program and research,” said Danang, Thursday (5/3).
He added that during the visit, the Rector has signed 1 MoU and 6 cooperation agreements, namely with NCU, NTNU and Tunghai University with Faculty of Geography. The cooperation involves research with Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research NCU, agreement of two buoys with NCU, as well as Faculty Exchange Agreement with College of Liberal Arts, National Taiwan Normal University, in order to provide postdoctoral scholarships for the lecturers of Faculty of Geography.
On the other hand, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences collaborated with NCU and Tunghai University regarding double degree programs. Meanwhile, Faculty of Biology collaborated with Department of Life Sciences NCU and College of Science Tunghai University for the same program.
The visit was also to follow up the Tripartite Agreement between NTUST, UGM and Tahir Foundation. “Tahir Foundation donates 10 billion for double degree program and study assignment for lecturers,” Danang added.
On that occasion, the Rector also met the alumni and lecturers who are currently studying at Taipei Medical University. During the visit, he was accompanied by the Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dean of Faculty of Biology, Dean of Faculty of Geography, Director of Partnership, Alumni and Global Initiatives, as well as delegates from Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Vocational School and Faculty of Geography.
