Lecturer from Public Health Faculty of Universitas Nusa Cendana in East Nusa Tenggara, M. Dinah Charlota Lerik, has earned a psychology sciences doctoral degree from Faculty of Psychology UGM On Friday (21/9).

Dinah has defended her dissertation titled Role of Learning Type towards Ability to Find Location by Relying on Sense of Direction, Risk Taking Behaviour, and Spatial Anxiety.

Dinah said the research was done to explain the speed and correctness in finding a location by controlling sense of direction, risk taking behaviour, and spatial anxiety.

Doing the research in 89 students of Yogyakarta state universities, she found that there was a significant difference in terms of the speed in finding a location between the learning types of route, map, and verbal guidance by controlling sense of direction, risk taking behaviour, and spatial anxiety.

“The finding showed that related to finding a location between the learning types of route, map, and verbal guidance have a role in controlling the sense of direction, risk taking behaviour, and spatial anxiety,” she said.

Dinah said this research was useful for individuals with map type that obtain map stimulation.  Individual in this type will more quickly find a new location compared to the individual of route type that obtains route stimulation.
