1,804 new UGM Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM) students will participate in Pionir Kesatria for three days. The dean, faculty administrators, and the Pionir Kesatria 2024 committee welcomed the new students at the SGLC building courtyard on Wednesday (Jul. 31).
The Dean of FT UGM, Professor Selo, stated that the new engineering students are future leaders. Therefore, during their studies at FT UGM, they are expected to make the most of their time by studying diligently and sincerely.
“You are the future leaders responsible for bringing this nation forward,” said Dean Selo.
Each student is not only educated in knowledge and technology but also in enhancing soft skills, character, and good personality traits.
“Good habits learned in college should be carried over to the next life stages. The implementation of the portal and lift, for instance, is an effort to educate all FT UGM members about the culture of queuing,” he said.
On this occasion, Dean Selo also mentioned that FT UGM is currently the only faculty within UGM that has received the Integrity Zone (ZI) predicate from the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
Through various ZI schemes, FT UGM becomes a place for education with integrity and care for the environment.
Messages of integrity and environmental awareness are conveyed in various places. One of them is at the entrance, where messages encourage environmental care by minimizing waste.
As part of efforts to reduce waste, each new student will receive a tumbler for drinking water.
“We need support to ensure this faculty always becomes a model for waste management so that our campus remains green, environmentally friendly, and a comfortable place for all of us to study,” he concluded.
