As many as 199 lecturers and staff of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received the Satyalancana Karya Satya award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
The 10, 20, and 30-year Satyalancana Karya Satya award ceremony for UGM lecturers and staff was held in the UGM Senate Hall on Friday (Aug. 16).
The Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, Professor Supriyadi, said that the Satyalancana Karya Satya award is indeed given by the government to all civil servants (ASN) who have met certain requirements and criteria. One of the assessment criteria is their competence in working.
“This award is a form of gratitude from the government and Universitas Gadjah Mada to the lecturers and staff who have served with discipline and loyalty following their respective roles, thus making Universitas Gadjah Mada better and able to contribute more to all Indonesian people and the world,” said Professor Supriyadi.
On that occasion, Professor Supriyadi explained that as a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH), UGM will be given full authority to manage its human resources, starting from the recruitment process to the career development process, both for staff and lecturers, including promotions and so on, which UGM itself will regulate.
“It includes allowances that UGM itself determines. This certainly shows, on the one hand, that UGM has the autonomy to manage human resources better. On the other hand, it implies that a burden must be considered so that human resources management at UGM can be more efficient and effective in the future,” he said.
Professor Adi Utarini, representing the award recipients, said that the award received proves that the lecturers and staff at UGM have been working and serving for 10, 20, and 30 years.
The lecturers and staff should be grateful to the Indonesian government, especially the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and UGM, for awarding the award a day before the 79th Indonesian Independence Day.
“Receiving this award certainly brings a sense of happiness and pride, especially since it was given on a blessed Friday,” she said.
Professor Utarini stated that the lecturers and staff who received the award had been assessed as competent in their work, loyal, and dedicated to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. This award, she said, is a trust.
“A heavy trust, of course, because we, the award recipients, must be able to set an example and role model,” she explained.
Professor Utari believes that without the role of all staff and lecturers, UGM would not be what it is today. She hopes that UGM will continue to be a learning institution that dedicates its best resources to developing UGM’s academic activities.
“We all hope to be healthy, prosperous, and more professional in our duties. We ask for prayers and support from the university leadership, faculties, schools, and work units where we all serve so that we can work at UGM in good health and be allowed to contribute our best thoughts and performance to achieve UGM’s vision and a golden Indonesia in 2045,” she added.
Professor Suadi, as the Director of Human Resources, said that lecturers and staff could receive the Satyalancana Karya Satya award by proposing names to the government. However, he then admitted that not all of them could receive it.
Professor Suadi reported that 199 people, including 100 lecturers and 99 staff, received awards at this award-giving. Fifty-one people each received the 10-year Satyalancana Karya Satya award, 54 people for 20 years, and 94 people for the 30-year Satyalancana Karya Satya award.
“This award is certainly a source of pride, an example, and a spirit to motivate and make a positive contribution to Universitas Gadjah Mada,” he concluded.
