Cara Mencegah Covid-19 Pada Orang Dengan Komorbid

dr. RM. Agit Sena Setiadi, Sp.D.D., as the Internal medicine specialist at UGM Academic Hospital, assessed that Covid-19 is more easily infected to people with comorbidities.

"An individual with comorbid is more at risk of infecting Covid-19. One of them is related to the body's defense system, which is lower than people without comorbidities," she explained on Friday (9/10).

She also revealed that comorbid is a condition in which a person already has a pre-existing chronic disease.

Some particular comorbid diseases cover diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease, chronic respiratory tract disease, cancer, heart attack or stroke, kidney, geriatric-related diseases, autoimmune-related diseases, and other chronic diseases.

"These medical conditions are more sensitive to Covid-19 transmission," he said.

Besides being vulnerable to new coronavirus infections, people with comorbidity will worsen the Covid-19 disease. Some comorbid conditions will also be more severe, such as chronic lung disease (ppok) or heart disease.

Agit said that some prevention efforts of Covid-19 in people with comorbidities are essential. This prevention method aims to decrease the risk of illness and death. One of them is routinely checking the body condition at the hospital. Then, control comorbid properly to anticipate complications by having a healthy lifestyle and balancing the diet according to comorbid conditions.

Next, do not forget to always wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands, and keep the environment healthy and clean. People with comorbidities are also recommended to avoid crowds and stay at home.

"Regular exercise is required to be applied to comorbid conditions and avoid stress. Also, implementing health protocols that have been appealed by the government and local health institutions," Agit concluded.
