UGM Pertahankan Gelar Juara Umum PIMNAS ke-33

UGM, for some time, had successfully become defending champion to get the title of the top winner at the 33rd National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS). This title was announced in the offline awarding night of the 33rd PIMNAS Closing at GSP UGM and broadcast online via the YouTube platform of Universitas Gadjah Mada University on Saturday (28/11) night.

During the event, it was announced that UGM won 56 medals in total. These achievements included details for the poster category, winning nine bronze medals, five silver medals, and eight gold medals. While in the presentation category, UGM won twelve bronze medals, ten silver medals, and 12 gold medals.

Plt. Head of the National Achievement Center, Asep Sukmayadi, and Director of Quality Assurance Belmawa Dikti, Prof. Aris Djunaidi, handed over the PIMNAS trophy, namely Adhikarta Kertawidya. Meanwhile, there were also representatives from UGM who also handed over the trophy. They are UGM Chancellor, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng. This achievement made UGM the defending champion of PIMNAS for three consecutive years from 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Indwiyani Astuti, as the head of the judges for 33rd PIMNAS, stated that this year's PIMNAS is competing for a total of 186 awards or medals. It is then divided into two categories of assessment, namely posters and presentations. Nevertheless, the top winner title will be won mainly for university representatives who earn the highest number of gold medals in the presentation category.

"From all 625 student teams who participated in the 33rd PIMNAS, you all indeed, have been the champions. Still, we determine who stands out the most in each class," said the woman who is also a lecturer at FKKMK UGM.

The Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, BA., MBA., also conveyed similar things. In his remarks, he conveyed that these 625 students had succeeded in inventing extraordinary ideas in this 33rd PIMNAS. This fact indicates that the Covid-19 pandemic has not eradicated students' spirit, enthusiasm, and creativity.

Moreover, Nadiem said that the PIMNAS event was a medium for students' potential and creativity to adjust to nowadays conditions. This event organization is relevant to the Ministry of Education and Culture's idea for higher education, namely Merdeka Belajar episode 2 Kampus Merdeka. The program aims to unite universities and the world of work by contributing targeted flexibility for students to explore experiences and knowledge outside the campus.

"It's an opportunity for us to manifest works that help Indonesia leap progress. With many tries, ask, and work from the simple, we will produce something remarkable. Thus, I appreciate all of the efforts in creativity and innovation that resulted throughout this activity. Congratulations to all students who have participated in this 33rd PIMNAS. Keep going and inspiring," he concluded.
