The life of human beings has been so many affected by the development of the industrial revolution 4.0. Social impact is one result of the increasing number of industrial processes by high-tech machines (M2M, IoT, Bigdata, and A.I.) and even erasing human producing-process.

Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, from UGM Faculty of Engineering UGM, revealed that this condition could be a threat to increase the unemployment rate number. For the industry itself, adjusting to install and build industrial machines with a return of investment for years is also a challenge because they have to develop new investments.

"This condition, due to the industry 4.0 that has so much heavy dependency on automation-based technology. Besides, it also eliminates the human's assistant. There is also a change in qualifications for labor requirements. Therefore, we also need to adjust the education system," he explained in his offline speech for a Professor at the UGM Senate Hall that was broadcasted online on the UGM Youtube channel on Tuesday (1/12).

He explained that industry 4.0 and the concept of society 5.0 are linked to one another. The industrial revolution 4.0 heavily relies on M2M, IoT, Ai, and bigdata as the major components in making future changes. Simultaneously, in society 5.0, the development of modern technology puts humans as the central component. It is a form of technology concept that presents humans as the main consideration for any technological development.

"In society 5.0, human welfare is the ultimate goal for system development," he explained.

Selo provided an illustration in the transportation sector, such as the efficiency of getting transport and payment. Besides, public transportation will also be more friendly to young children, the elderly, and some people with special needs.

In his inauguration speech entitled Inter-Device Wireless Connectivity for Community Welfare in Society 5.0, Selo said that there had been so much implementation in some fields regarding industrialization that depends on connectivity between devices communicating at the M2M level. Some people also have got those benefits. Still, we designed this implementation using the industrial 4.0 concept, and it has not given entirely focus on humans.

He maintained that the successful implementation of the concept of society 5.0 is extremely reliant on the success of industry 4.0, which is built with the main components of IoT, M2M, A.I., and Bigdata technology. Also, we should pay more concern to the problem of connection speed and wireless connection capacity.

"Accordingly, the development of adequate wireless network connectivity, especially WLAN (wifi) and cellular, is an essential key in actualizing the welfare of society in the context of society 5.0," he explained.
