The minister of education officially opened the registration of freshman candidates for State Higher Education Entrance National Selection (SNMPTN) on January 4, 2021. In SNMPTN this year, each participant can decide on one or two study programs with one of the study programs registered at tertiary institutions according to the region of school origin.
Prof. Budi Widyobroto, as the Chief Executive of the LTMPT Executive, announced that each participant must carefully consider the elected study program. Participants who have passed the SNMPTN are not allowed to take UTBK as a required test for the SBMPTN and independent selection test in some universities.
“If one has been accepted in SNMPTN selection, you are no longer able to register UTBK-SBMPTN, which means you won’t be able to have a UTBK score. As a matter of fact, several universities require UTBK scores as one of the criteria to enroll universities,” he explained on Tuesday (26/1).
This year, he added that several institutional universities would also apply the UTBK score as one of the selection criteria for these particular universities’ entrance administration.
“So, please be careful in choosing a study program. If you wish for one study program, you only require to choose one for SNMPTN, unless you are equally happy with the first and second options,” he added.
He conveyed this in the UGM Update Talk edition of SNMPTN and SBMPTN, which was broadcast live through UGM social media channels. Based on the ltmpt.ac.id page, the LTMPT account registration period for SNMPTN begins from January 4 to February 1.
The period for determining eligible students by the school begins from January 4 to February 8. Meanwhile, the period of filling out the PDSS begins from January 11 to February 8. To sum up, SNMPTN registration is held within ten days, which begins on February 15-24, 2021.
“Afterward, we just have to wait for the election results that are going to be announced on March 22,” said Budi.
Unlike the previous year, prospective freshmen can currently apply to the UGM Vocational School through SNMPTN and other admissions channels.
UGM Deputy Chancellor for Education, Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djagal Wiseso Marseno, M.Agr, revealed that UGM would accept more than nine thousand new freshmen of undergraduates and applied undergraduate students this year.
“In this year, UGM has released a new policy related to the capacity percentage. The frequency for SNMPTN is 25 percent, SBMPTN at 35 percent, and independent selection by 40 percent,” he explained.
He added that SNMPTN participants could attach a portfolio of achievement certificates to determine which students would be accepted at UGM. He explained this achievement did not have to be exactly having the same field as their selected study program.
“There is no need for match necessities between the achievement and the aspired study program. For instance, you have achievements in the physics Olympiad, but you aspire to enroll in the medical study program, yet, we will still count them,” said Djagal.
Meanwhile, there will be two periods of UTBK 2021 implementation: first is on April 12 – 18, and secondly on April 26 – May 2. UTBK material is in the form of a Scholastic Potential Test (TPS) and an Academic Competency Test (TKA) with three test groups: Science, Social, and Mixed.
To participate in UTBK, the participants must first register for an LTMPT account starting from February 7 – March 12 and subsequently register for UTBK and SBMPTN on March 15 – April 1, 2021.
