Gerakan 3T dan 5M Kurang Optimal Persulit Indonesia Bebas Covid-19 Agustus 2021

The pandemic of Covid-19 has given a profound impact on almost all sectors in Indonesia. A UGM Epidemiology Expert, dr. Bayu Satria Wiratama, MPH, mentioned that the increase of uncontrolled Covid-19 cases in Indonesia makes it hard to stop in the time of its Independence day on August, 17th 2021 later. The increase of Covid-19 cases can be provoked by the lack of discipline in implementing 3T (testing, tracing, treatment) and 5M (wearing mask, washing hands, keeping distance, avoiding crowd, and limiting mobilization) movements.

“It is not relevant compared to the target. There is still a lack of discipline in implementing 3T and 5M movements,” he said.

Some areas are still less optimal in handling Covid-19 cases. Only a few areas, such as Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, and West Sumatera, have quite a proper handling. Meanwhile, for the vaccination program, this pandemic will end if this country has reached up to the herd immunity system if the vaccination program has applied to the amount of 180 million people. This expectation exceeds the fact of the current condition. The approximation for 180 million people to be vaccinated will be ended by the end of this year or maybe in 2022.

“Meanwhile, to date, we still have a lot of problems for the vaccination program such as supply, distribution, and prioritize,” he explained.

In an effort to control the Covid-19 cases in Indonesia, all society levels must be collaborated to be disciplined in implementing 3T and 5M movements and expedite the vaccination program thoroughly.
