First Place Winners of Creative Writing Competition
Two UGM students from different study programs, Dinar Annasta Naja Mayra (Nutrition and Health) and Shofiyah Arviana Rahmawati (Medical Record and Health Information), were crowned champions of the Creative Writing Nutrition Contest held by STIKES Surabaya’s Nutrition Student Association. The GAMADA team began their research for the national competition in December 2020 and was announced as winners on February 28, 2021.
The objective of their research was to create a food innovation to promote food diversification. The team proposed healthy noodles made by utilizing rice bran and chicken eggshells. The said items contain sufficient carbohydrates and high calcium to fulfill nutritional needs and maintain the immune system during the pandemic.

The SSD team consisting of Shofiyah and a geography student from Universitas Indonesia, Salsa Muafiroh, participated in National Scientific Writing Competition held by the Edutainer Nusantara Fair Indonesia (ENF Indonesia) and won a silver medal.
The team focused on the social media marketing strategy to promote low-fat siomay creation made from rice bran and tofu dregs. It is Shofiyah and Salsa’s innovation to provide alternative food that can prevent obesity and contribute to achieving the SDGs.
Strong desire to compete and win
Dinar explained that her motivation to partake in various competitions was because of her competitive nature. She was keen to seize any available opportunities and give her best to try. Dinar expressed her hopeful plans to conduct other research in both similar and different fields to provide contributions to the community through the increase of nutritional value, innovation and creativity, use of technology, and improvement of the economy.
“It is an honor for me to be accepted at UGM through the academic achievement selection. UGM has trusted me, so I have to keep achieving. My interests in science and research motivate me as well to keep learning,” said Dinar, Wednesday (12/5).
