Another achievement unlocked! The Palapa team consisting of three Civil Engineering students, namely Muhammad Dimas Mahardika, Heningtyas Putri Abiyanti, and Rizki Ramadhan Prayitno, won first prize at the 2021 Civil National Expo in the Transportation Analysis category.
The competition was organized by the Civil Student Association of Tarumanegara University and concluded in May. A total of 24 groups with 72 students took part in the competition, with the top five finalists competing with Palapa were students of Bandung Institute of Technology and Syiah Kuala University.
“Alhamdulillah, we are delighted to be the winner, considering the stiff competition we had against students from other universities,” said Dimas, Head of the Palapa team, when contacted on Thursday (29/7).
Palapa proposed an intelligent multi-airport system and digital air corridor to improve the interconnectivity of Indonesia’s new capital transport network. They aimed to enhance the management efficiency of airports in the new capital network in East Kalimantan using the multi-airport system (MAS) concept. The MAS would generate passenger data, route selection, and passenger and airport distribution analysis, providing convenience for airport operators and passengers.
“The burden of airline passengers can be divided fairly between airports,” explained Dimas.
The team hopes their findings will equip policymakers with valuable information on the transport mode development in the new capital and expects the execution to apply modern principles, be environmentally sound, and benefit the community’s economy.
