The UGM formula team Bimasakti is set to compete at the upcoming Formula Student Netherlands (FSN) in Assen, The Netherlands, on 9-14 July 2022. UGM gave the team a warm send-off at the Balairung yard on Monday (20/6), wishing them the best of luck.
“Today marks the launch of the latest generation car designed by Bimasakti and the team’s send-off to the formula competition in the Netherlands,” said Director of Student Affairs Dr. Suharyadi.
The FSN competition challenges students to understand, design, and develop a formula-style racing car. For this 2022 race, Bimasakti is geared up with its newest 11th-generation formula car.
“We appreciate the support from our partners and thank everyone who has guided this team,” said the Director.
As technical and financial challenges were inevitable, Suharyadi encouraged the team to turn these lemons into lemonade. Adversity gives them valuable experience for the future.
“What is more important is how the team can learn something along the way. The non-academic process will come in handy when you graduate and work later,” said Suharyadi.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Selo said he was proud of the team because they could optimally set up the vehicle amid limited sponsors and time.
“I would like to thank the sponsors for their assistance so that students can participate in this competition. I can only encourage the team to achieve the best results,” said Prof. Selo.
Head of Bimasakti Aditya Maheranta said the silver lining of the two-year pandemic was that the team could prepare well for this European competition. He admitted that the team was not aiming for first place but would give it their best shot.
“We do not represent Bimasakti alone, but Indonesia,” said Aditya.
