Accesive.id, a mobile application that can inform location accessibility for people with disabilities, has picked up a silver medal in the IoT and Application category at the International Intellectual Property (IPITEx) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event was attended by participants from various countries, including Botswana, Canada, Croatia, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Sudan, and Thailand.
The application was developed by Muhammad Faqih Husaen (Computer Science), Bima Indra Permana (Master of Business Administration), and Gaksa Gantara (Vocational College alumnus).
“We are grateful and proud that our application has won an award at the world level. This achievement hopefully will inspire other students to develop more innovations for people with disabilities,” said Fiqih on Tuesday (7/2).
Accesive.id is an application to support the mobility of people with disabilities in their daily activities. This application provides information on the accessibility of a place for people with disabilities, for instance, physical disabilities, the elderly, the sick, and others.
Faqih said his experience and his late brother’s suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) inspired him to create this app. The disease causes sufferers to experience decreased muscle function, resulting in paralysis of the legs.
Faqih and his team equipped Accessive.id with four main features: place search, place accessibility details, reviews, and collaborative data sharing on place accessibility.
The place search feature enables users to browse locations through maps and lists, and the details part informs about disability-friendly facilities available in a place, such as ram facilities, audio descriptions, and others.
The review feature allows users to tell stories and share experiences of places they have visited. Users can also add various information on disability services provided by a place.
