A total of 40 national and international companies participated in the Career Days event organized by the Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM), held at Grha Sabha Pramana.
The job fair aimed to bridge the world of work with students and the general public. Career Days SV UGM was held over two days this year, from May 6 to 7, 2025, and was open to the public free of charge.
Carrying the theme “A First Step Toward a Bright Career,” the event allowed participants to visit each company’s booth, receive firsthand information about job vacancies directly from company representatives, and even participate in walk-in interviews, enabling immediate job applications.
Aria Nugrahadi, Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office of the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), attended the event and expressed his appreciation.
“This event can help reduce unemployment by channeling skilled human resources in accordance with industry needs. Vocational education is indeed a key asset toward achieving Golden Indonesia 2045,” he stated.
In addition to setting up booths and interview stations, each participating company was given a session to present on the main stage.
These presentations took place in turns and attracted significant interest from attendees.
“I’m very enthusiastic because presentations like these are important for me. I don’t need to ask one by one while going around the booths since I can get the company insights just by sitting and listening,” said Erma Eviana, a final-year student who paid close attention to the sessions.
Dean of SV UGM, Professor Agus Maryono, explained that the SV UGM job fair is held annually to shorten the waiting period for graduates to secure employment.
“On average, SV UGM graduates only wait 3.5 months to find work. This event is one of our initiatives, and we remain committed to holding it every year for a better future in nation-building,” he affirmed.
Among the 40 participating companies in this job fair were Pertamina Patra Niaga, Daikin, PAL Indonesia, Superior Prima Sukses, Lion Superindo, Komatsu, Epson, Nasmoco, and New Armada.
