Even though the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia is not at its best condition lately, especially because of the Ambalat case, it doesn’t prevent universities from both countries to establish cooperation. Recently the Veterinary Faculty (FKH) of UGM and Veterinary Faculty (FPV) of Putra Malaysia University (UPM) have agreed to establish cooperation in students and lecturer exchange and research cooperation. It was revealed after the visit of lecturer staffs of FPV UPM Malaysia to the FKH UGM on Wednesday (10/6).
The Dean of FKH UGM Prof. Bambang Sumiarto said that the recent visit is a payback visit from FPV UPM, after the FKH UGM staff visit to UPM in 2008. According to Bambang, the cooperation will be realized soon in the form of joint research, lecturer and student exchange.
“The event is a common effort from FKH family in order to improve FKH quality and achievements, from year to year,†he said.
The dean of FPV UPM, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Fateh Mohamed expected that in the future the student and lecturer exchange can be improved in order to share the field experience found in each country. He also hoped that Malaysian students and teaching staff can study in FKH UGM.
In the UPM visit, both of the faculty leaders exchange the latest information about their faculty. After the visit, the delegation that was consisted of 30 teaching staffs of FPV UPM reviewed several laboratory facility of the FKH UGM.
