A total of 610 students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have been awarded scholarships by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) for the odd semester of 2025. At the Welcoming Awardee event held on Sunday (Sep. 28) at the ASLC Hall of the Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM), 270 awardees attended in person in Yogyakarta.
Head of the LPDP Scholarship Services Division, Gendro Hartono, emphasized that LPDP is a state mandate to prepare excellent human resources.
As of 2025, LPDP has supported more than 555,776 awardees and alumni, with UGM receiving the highest number at 6,955 recipients.
He reminded students that academic achievement must be balanced with health, organizational activities, and personal integrity.
“Focus on your studies, graduate on time, be wise in using social media, and always uphold a good reputation as individuals and as LPDP awardees,” Hartono conveyed in his online remarks.
UGM Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Development, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, emphasized that scholarships represent the state’s responsibility. He also encouraged recipients to contribute to their regions upon completing their studies as a form of tangible service.
“Do not let excessive behavior during your studies harm yourself. Avoid showcasing an irrelevant lifestyle, especially amid the current economic and political crises,” said Dr. Sujito.
Chair of the UGM LPDP Student Association, Boy Kurniawan, delivered his message with a touch of humor while urging awardees to remain serious in pursuing their studies with the LPDP scholarship. He also reminded students of the importance of honesty in scholarship fund applications.
At the same event, Committee Chair Juverio Pangestu highlighted the meaning behind the theme “Moving Together to Build Indonesia for the Nation’s Future.” He explained that the scholarship is not only intended to complete academic studies but also to create a real impact on the nation.
“This theme marks the beginning of the journey for master’s and doctoral awardees. The LPDP scholarship is not merely a ticket to higher education but also a state mandate to uphold integrity, build networks, and make tangible contributions to society,” Pangestu said.
