To mark the 65th UGM anniversary, UGM runs an event for blood donors to have their blood taken. The event took place in Grha Sabha Pramana UGM on Tuesday, 30 December 2014 in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Red Cross.
Taufikur Rahman, S.E., M.B.A., event chairman, said the event was held annually as a form of care of UGM.
“The blood donor is a form of social solidarity of UGM to other people. We hope this would be able to help those in need,” said he.
The event hosted by PT GMUM involves 60 donors who are students and staff.
One member of staff in Agricultural Technology, Sarjono, said he had donated blood for 20 times. He appreciated this event, hoping that this would help others.
Similarly, Hamidah, computer student, who had twice donated her blood expressed her hope that the blood may help save a life.
Meanwhile, Susi, a Red Cross staff, said blood supply in Yogyakarta was still sufficient until January 2015, even they would be able to provide for other surrounding areas.
