AIESEC in Universitas Gadjah Mada (AIESEC UGM) once again held the Global Village Summer Peak 2025 on Jul. 26, 2025. The event was presented as a cultural exchange festival embracing the spirit of collaboration, diversity, and youth leadership on an international scale.
In this year’s Global Village Summer Peak, AIESEC UGM welcomed dozens of participants from seven countries through collaboration with the UGM Office of International Affairs (OIA UGM), namely Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China, Pakistan, the United States, Timor Leste, and Nigeria.
Some, including participants from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and China, joined as Exchange Participants from the On The Map volunteering program organized by Incoming Global Volunteer.
The event featured an International Parade showcasing cultural exchange through traditional attire from each participant’s home country; a Special Talkshow sharing stories and experiences from Exchange Participants; and a Collaborative Space with two main activities: batik-making workshops with Batik Yudhistira and an interactive Treasure Hunting game.
Participants were also invited to explore world cuisines at the Live Country Booths, which served signature dishes from participating countries, and enjoy the International Performance, which highlighted a variety of artistic performances reflecting each nation’s cultural identity.
One participant, Tsalsa Nurhalimah, shared her enthusiasm for the event, noting that she enjoyed interacting directly with the Exchange Participants, especially when given the opportunity to taste their traditional dishes.
“My favorite parts were the talk show on Global Volunteer and the cultural performances from each country. I also made new friends from other universities, which was wonderful,” she said.
Head of Public Relations and Incoming Global Volunteer for AIESEC UGM, Eugenia, emphasized that Global Village is more than a celebration. It reflects AIESEC UGM’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and the spirit of living diversity.
“As an international organization focusing on youth leadership development through cross-cultural exchange, AIESEC believes that intercultural encounters are one of the most powerful ways to cultivate empathy, tolerance, and global insight,” she said on Monday (Aug. 11).
Eugenia added that the international cultural exchange festival aims to encourage youth to explore other cultures while also sharing their own national values.
“We want to invite participants to embrace life in diversity, to understand one another, and to build cross-cultural tolerance,” she explained.
The Global Village festival is held twice a year by AIESEC as a celebration of global cultural diversity within the framework of exchange programs.
The event showcases a wide range of cultures from around the world, including Indonesia’s local culture, through artistic performances, traditional dances, culinary offerings, traditional costume displays, and various other engaging activities.
