Deputy Head of BKN, Haryomo Dwi Putranto, affirmed that the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) is ready to accommodate the engineering profession, including livestock engineers.
According to Putranto, the recognition of including the engineer professional title, especially for State Civil Apparatus (ASN), aligns with President Prabowo’s desire for BKN to complete its database.
This was emphasized by the deputy head during his speech at the National Dialogue on the Livestock Engineering Profession.
The dialogue, titled “Future Challenges for the Livestock Engineer Professional Career,” was held by the Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Animal Science UGM) in collaboration with the Livestock Engineering Board of the Indonesian Engineers Association (BKT Peternakan PII) on Saturday (May 24) at Animal Science UGM.
In principle, Putranto said, BKN is enthusiastic about simplifying the process of recognizing and including the engineer professional title.
Nevertheless, he hopes the process remains administrative.
“For example, if an ASN is at UGM, the UGM Directorate for Human Resources must also recognize the status, even if the proposal can be done independently. Administrative order must still be maintained,” he stated.
Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Professor Agus Taufik Mulyono, expressed appreciation to BKN for supporting the process of recognizing and implementing engineer titles.
This support is provided through the Professional Engineer Education Program (PSPPI).
“The intersection is between the Engineering Law and the Higher Education Law. The enforcement of engineer titles is legal. We thank BKN,” Professor Mulyono explained.
Professor Ali Agus, as an Expert Staff to the Minister of Agriculture, encouraged improvements to the Livestock Law.
He stated that the law is not yet sufficient to accommodate the interests of livestock development.
This includes land certainty, professional human resources, and food security.
“There is a need to strengthen the Livestock Law, among other things, regarding the authority of livestock engineers, certainty of land use for livestock, and issues of biosecurity and animal welfare,” Professor Agus revealed.
