Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero), Tbk, handed over a grant of eight laptops to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Wednesday (14/6).
This assistance is a form of cooperation between BNI and UGM and the bank’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the Tridharma activities at UGM. The use and utilization of the grant, worth IDR 71.2 million, will be managed by the UGM Directorate of Student Affairs.
“Hopefully, this assistance can be useful and beneficial for the smooth running of student activities and the progress of the campus,” Arif Setiawan said on behalf of the Branch Office Manager of BNI UGM, Setyo Adi Pranowo, who was unable to attend.
Dr. Sindung Tjahyadi, the director of student affairs, expressed gratitude and appreciation to BNI for the assistance. According to him, these eight laptops will supplement the existing stock of laptops from previous donors.
“This assistance adds to our stock. We have a laptop borrowing mechanism for students because the need was strongly felt during the online learning period (pandemic). The demand is very high. We have around 100 laptops, but there were about 250 to 300 applicants then,” he said.
Dr. Tjahyadi explained that the laptop borrowing mechanism prioritizes students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and final-year students completing their thesis.
“Besides those experiencing financial difficulties, we support students working on their final assignments and needing laptops. We hope BNI will not hesitate to provide additional assistance because we assist around 30 percent of students who need financial support for tuition fees and other expenses. May this assistance encourage students to be even more productive,” he concluded.
