Eight female students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) participated in the 2025 Sookmyung UNESCO UNITWIN Advanced Workshop held at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, from Nov. 10 to 14, 2025. The program serves as a platform for strengthening women’s leadership through cross-cultural collaboration, project-based learning, and networking among partner universities across the Asia-Pacific region.
With the guidance of Dr. Hatma Suryatmojo, Director of Public Studies and Innovation, UGM sent eight students representing two fields: digital and entrepreneurship.
The digital field included Windy Susanty (Psychology), Enjang Sekaryati (Biology), Fanny Adelia Permatasari (Actuarial Science), and Riandita Lareka Permata Azzahrah (Urban and Regional Planning).
Meanwhile, the entrepreneurship field was represented by Naradwina Irtandya (Accounting), Lily Trisna Devi Hutauruk (Philosophy), Nisrina Athyra Karimah (Health Nutrition), and Haniy Alhafizah Binti Isyrin (Law).

The Advanced Workshop brought together 55 participants from universities across Southeast Asia, supported by seven accompanying university staff members and six researchers from the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC).
Participating institutions included the National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Universitas Udayana, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Quy Nhon University (Vietnam), and the Royal University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Through this program, participants in the digital track received training in data visualization and analysis using Python, along with strengthening their fundamental and applied technology literacy. Meanwhile, the entrepreneurship group engaged in intensive learning on product prototype development using design approaches and UX/UI tools.
Windy Susanty, a participant in the digital field, shared that the experience was memorable because it brought together students from diverse countries and backgrounds.
“It enabled us not only to learn about digital fields and leadership, but also to gain new cultural insights from other participants,” she said.
Susanty also encouraged young women to actively seek cross-country learning opportunities, especially in the technology sector.
“You never know, your curiosity might take you to study abroad in a completely different environment,” she added.
