The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), actively participated in the series of events for the Master Studies in Sustainable Development and Management (MASUDEM) Final Conference held on Nov. 13 to 14, 2025, at ICO NIDA, Bangkok. FEB UGM was represented by the UGM’s MASUDEM Steering Committee member Professor Nurul Indarti, along with two lecturers from the Department of Management, Dr. Sari Sitalaksmi and Dr. Rocky Adiguna.
At the conference titled “Advancing Sustainability through Social Science, Management, and Innovation,” FEB UGM shared best practices for developing sustainable education by launching the Sustainability Management concentration as the seventh concentration in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.
In the presentation titled “Mainstreaming Sustainability Management: The Integration of MASUDEM in the MBA FEB UGM Curriculum,” Professor Indarti explained that through this new concentration, FEB UGM has begun mainstreaming sustainable education into its core curriculum.
This initiative is the result of a long-term collaboration among universities within the MASUDEM consortium, supported by the European Union through a higher education capacity-building program from 2022.

Professor Indarti elaborated that the Sustainability Management concentration in the MBA Program at FEB UGM includes specialized courses such as ESG Investment and Reporting, Environmental Impact Assessment, Sustainability Leadership, and Technology and Innovation Management for Sustainability.
This initiative marks a significant institutional transformation in business education at FEB UGM. Sustainability is no longer an additional topic but is integrated into the core curriculum and learning practices at both the faculty and program levels.
In addition to presenting institutional experiences, FEB UGM also sent three young researchers to present their sustainability-related studies.
They were Ferly Arvidia Anindita, who presented Determinants of Sustainable Food Waste Management Behaviour: Study on Yogyakarta Province; Wildan Wardana, who delivered a presentation titled Underlying Factor of Green Innovation Among Fashion Business in Indonesia; and Sony Wijaya, who shared research titled Lessons Learned from the Failures Experienced by Alumni of the Japanese Internship Program.

Earlier, on Nov. 10, 2025, Professor Indarti participated in the MASUDEM Steering Committee Meeting.
During the meeting, the MASUDEM steering committee evaluated the launch of new master’s programs or new sustainability-related concentrations at the six ASEAN universities within the MASUDEM consortium.
These universities are UGM (MBA Program at FEB UGM), UII (MM Program), Universitas Trisakti (MM Program), and three universities from Thailand: the International College of the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Srinakharinwirot University, and Naresuan University.
Participation in this international forum reaffirms FEB UGM’s commitment to advancing education and research in the field of sustainability. Through collaboration with international consortia such as MASUDEM, FEB UGM seeks to produce knowledge, curricula, and learning practices that can address global needs for sustainable management.
