The Master of Development Economics Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MEP FEB UGM), and the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI) have agreed to extend their ongoing partnership.
The agreement, focused on the implementation of graduate education and appraiser certification, was recently signed by Dean of FEB UGM, Professor Didi Achjari, and Chairperson of MAPPI, Budy Prasojo, at the Kertanegara Meeting Room, FEB UGM.
Dean Achjari warmly welcomed the renewal of the collaboration, which also includes valuable input from MAPPI as part of FEB UGM’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of its graduates and respond to industry needs.
He emphasized the importance of industry insights in ensuring that academic curricula remain relevant and equip graduates to face real-world challenges.
“We hope that FEB UGM graduates will go beyond just upholding the ‘world-class’ university slogan. They should be grounded, impactful, and possess high integrity. A truly impactful campus is not only about global rankings but also about playing a tangible role in solving national problems and contributing to economic growth through innovation and technology,” he remarked on Friday, Jul. 18, 2025.
Dean Achjari also appreciates the contribution of MEP alumni, who have made significant impacts across various sectors, demonstrating the quality of graduates from a leading national university.
According to him, this renewed agreement reflects FEB UGM’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and to strengthening cross-sector collaborations to develop adaptive, visionary, and solution-oriented graduates.
Appreciation was also conveyed by Dr. Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, Vice-Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni at FEB UGM, for the long-standing relationship between MEP FEB UGM and MAPPI.
He expressed hope that this extended partnership will further reinforce MEP FEB UGM’s position in development economics education.
“This collaboration also reflects our commitment to sustainability in enhancing the learning process to align with labor market demands. It sends a strong message that we are continuously working to produce even better graduates,” he said.
Vice-Dean Sahadewo added that FEB UGM remains open to broader collaborations, including internship programs that reach not only major cities but also areas within and surrounding the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).
MAPPI Chairperson Budy Prasojo stated that the collaboration with MEP FEB UGM is driven by a shared commitment to increase students’ added value and knowledge.
“At our offices, there are dozens of MEP FEB UGM alumni who contribute across various strategic sectors such as government and banking. This is proof that MEP graduates are highly sought after,” he said.
One tangible form of contribution from the collaboration, Chair Prasojo explained, is MAPPI’s provision of internship opportunities for MEP FEB UGM students to gain deeper professional experience.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening internship programs to maximize student benefit, proposing that internship durations for MEP students be extended to ensure more comprehensive exposure to appraisal practices.
“Internships that are too short may not offer a thorough understanding of appraisal practices,” he added.
