To support academic activities, the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAFEGAMA) Class of 1995 has provided 18 laptops to students of the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UGM). The laptops were ceremonially handed over to several students at the FEB UGM Alumni Corner recently.
The Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Partnerships, and Alumni of FEB UGM, Dr. Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to KAFEGAMA 1995. He explained that the laptops will be loaned to students in need and hopes that this support program can continue in the future.
“We hope these laptops will help students become more productive,” he said on Thursday (Nov. 6).
Appreciation was also conveyed by the UGM Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito. He expressed his hope that collaboration between the university, faculty, and alumni will continue sustainably.
“Initiatives from alumni such as KAFEGAMA 1995 are invaluable because they reflect genuine care amid the current national challenges,” he said.
Representing KAFEGAMA 1995, Dr. Dina Faoziah, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to reflect on her experiences as a student at FEB UGM.
She recalled that during her studies, owning a computer was considered a luxury. For this reason, she hopes that students today will make good use of the available facilities to support their learning at FEB UGM.
“Back then, having a computer was a luxury. I hope today’s students can make the most of the convenience they have to learn and grow,” she said.
To date, 18 of the 20 laptops have been loaned to eligible students. The remaining two units are reserved as backups for future applications. Muhammad Oriza Aqil Hamidjasi (Management), one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to FEB UGM alumni for their support. He noted that the laptop loan has greatly helped him.
“Previously, I struggled with the lack of supporting equipment for my coursework. Thankfully, alumni and the faculty have provided this assistance. I am very grateful,” he said.
A similar sentiment was shared by Abdullah Mustaqqoful Fikri (Economics). He hopes that laptop support will enhance academic activities and increase students’ motivation to learn.
“I hope this initiative can continue and reach all students in need,” he said.
