The UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM) swore in 40 new doctors, 13 male and 27 female, at the Grha Sabha Pramana on Tuesday (Oct. 15).
During this swearing-in ceremony, the 40 doctors pledged to uphold integrity and maintain ethical standards in serving the community according to their expertise and competencies.
With the addition of these new doctors, FK-KMK UGM has now graduated a total of 10,929 doctors, including 5,929 male and 5,000 female doctors.
The Dean of FK-KMK UGM, Professor Yodi Mahendradhata, stated that the new graduates must be more responsible.
As health challenges become increasingly complex and scientific and technological advancement accelerates, public expectations of health professionals will rise significantly.
“However, this also opens many doors for all of you to build a brilliant career in the health field,” Professor Mahendradhata emphasized.
The dean advised the new doctors to remain committed to lifelong learning and to prioritize a multidisciplinary and interprofessional approach to serving the Indonesian community.
“In addition, it is essential to uphold moral values and ethics and maintain the good name of your alma mater,” he added.
The Head of the Bachelor of Medicine Program at FK-KMK UGM, Dr. Denny Agustiningsih, congratulated the new graduates.
He reported that the average cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the 40 new doctors is 3.63, with two graduates achieving the highest GPAs of 3.8: Adinda Nurul Hidayah and Akbar As Sakhaab Fiisabiilillah.
Nathanael Vetra Purba, MD, a representative of the new doctors, shared that he spent nearly six years learning and undergoing various processes before being sworn in as a doctor.
They were taught many lessons about hard work and perseverance throughout this period.
“We experienced many life phases, from tears of joy to tears of sorrow. I hope this experience motivates all of us as doctors,” he said.
