The UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK UGM) has received an award from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
The award for Best Medical Faculty in the Placement of Senior Residents in Remote, Border, and Island Areas was presented by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and received by the Dean of FK-KMK UGM, Professor Yodi Mahendradhata.
The award was presented during the National Communication Forum for Medical and Health Workers 2024, themed “Excellent Health Human Resources Towards Golden Indonesia,” held Monday through Thursday (May 20-23) at Shangri-La Jakarta.
The forum was organized to appreciate individuals’ contributions to creating a resilient healthcare system in Indonesia.
The Ministry of Health currently prioritizes the health transformation agenda. This agenda draws heavily on lessons learned from handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia over the past few years.
The ministry has formulated this agenda into six pillars of health transformation to create a resilient and integrated healthcare system.
“We are certainly grateful. This award is an appreciation for FK-KMK UGM and Dr. Sardjito General Hospital’s high commitment and consistency in building health in remote, border, and island areas,” said Dean Yodi Mahendradhata.
He emphasized that this award is due to the contributions of the entire academic community at FK-KMK UGM, the support of partners, and alumni who have dedicated themselves to special assignments in remote, border, and island areas, even in Health Problem Areas.
He also expressed appreciation for the 45 other award recipients in various categories. Medical faculties from Universitas Hasanuddin and Universitas Nusa Cendana also received awards in different categories.
“It is hoped that this award will serve as a momentum further to motivate residents and the entire academic and hospital community to support the government’s efforts in improving access to healthcare services in remote, border, and island areas,” he explained.
For Dean Mahendradhata, this award also recognizes FK-KMK UGM’s commitment and efforts in promoting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), precisely Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
The National Communication Forum for Medical and Health Workers 2024 involves provincial and regency/city health offices, vertical hospitals, general hospitals, private hospitals, faculties of medicine and dentistry, and other stakeholders.
