The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FMIPA UGM) has entered into a collaborative partnership with PT Satria Duta Raya (SDR), as part of the implementation of the Pentahelix Collaboration Program.
This initiative aims to bridge academia, industry, government, communities, and media in support of national programs by integrating research, technology, and sustainability efforts in a strategic approach.
Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, Jul. 5, 2025, the Dean of FMIPA UGM, Professor Kuwat Triyana, stated that this collaboration presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen inter-sectoral relations.
“This collaboration has been in the planning stages for quite some time. As a university, we are committed to facilitating the downstreaming of research in partnership with industry. This is truly a promising opportunity,” he remarked.
The partnership is designed to bridge campus-based research with real-world needs while connecting UGM’s academic talent with an innovation ecosystem ready to benefit the public.
Through this synergy, FMIPA UGM serves as a hub of scientific knowledge with a direct impact on human capacity development, the creation of green jobs, and the digital transformation of interdisciplinary learning.
Meanwhile, SDR plays a key role in ensuring that field-based innovation demands are effectively addressed.
Dean Triyana further emphasized the importance of leveraging technology in various government programs.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) advancement and data management are essential in creating systems that are both efficient and effective.
Additionally, integrating technology ensures that every program takes into account aspects of sustainability, inclusivity, and equity.
Therefore, the Pentahelix collaboration also aims to encourage grassroots movements and community empowerment.
The collaboration between FMIPA UGM and SDR is manifested through three flagship programs.
The first is Vokaborasi.id, a blended learning platform based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI), the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI), and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
It is designed to strengthen the competencies of human resources at the community level.
The second program, Biosiklus.id, focuses on the processing of organic and inorganic waste through a circular economy approach, aiming to reduce carbon emissions while increasing the local economic value.
Lastly, ERP Merahputih.id provides an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for national cooperatives.
This system supports strategic government programs such as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) initiative and the Merah Putih Cooperative by ensuring planned, measurable, controlled, and transparent implementation.
Director of SDR, Firli Firdausi, emphasized the urgency of implementing this collaboration to address real-world problems in society.
He noted that discussions around Pentahelix collaborations often remain theoretical and fail to materialize into tangible benefits for the public.
“When we talk about the Pentahelix model, our goal is to improve quality of life. Achieving this requires the involvement of many elements, which is why collaboration is essential,” he asserted.
