Universitas Gadjah Mada has bid farewell to yet another luminary. Professor Indratiningsih, a retired professor from the Faculty of Animal Sciences, peacefully passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, at 10:00 AM.
Her departure has left an indelible mark on the hearts of the UGM academic community and her family, considering the substantial contributions made by Professor Indratiningsih throughout her lifetime.
A tribute was paid by several relatives, leaders, and lecturers on Monday (Jan. 15) afternoon at UGM.
“On behalf of the extensive family of the Faculty of Animal Sciences, we extend our deepest condolences for the passing of Professor Indratiningsih, our parent and teacher at the Faculty of Animal Sciences,” said Professor Budi Guntoro, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Sciences.
Professor Indratiningsih was recognized for her simplicity, friendliness, and eagerness to share her knowledge.
Her academic accomplishments and innovations in animal husbandry have proven instrumental in addressing various challenges. Consequently, she is revered as a valuable mentor by many.
Professor Indratiningsih earned her bachelor’s degree from the UGM Faculty of Animal Sciences in 1976. She continued her academic journey, attaining master’s and Ph.D. degrees at UGM, and has been a dedicated lecturer since 1978.
In addition to her teaching role, Professor Indratiningsih held positions such as Deputy Head of the Milk and Egg Technology Laboratory, secretary of the division, and Head of the Livestock Products Technology Department.
Notably, her research on milk fermentation showcased its efficacy in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells in the human body. Amidst her devoted service, she documented these innovations in scientific journals. She actively participated in mentoring and resolving community issues in animal husbandry.
The late professor’s resilience and commitment were acknowledged on several occasions. She received the government’s Satyalancana Karya Satya Award in 2003 for 20 years of service and a civil servant (PNS) for 30 consecutive years in 2008.
Before her retirement in 2015, the rector of UGM also recognized her loyalty and 25 years of service at the university. Despite her retirement, Professor Indratiningsih remained engaged in scholarly pursuits and continued contributing to society.
“May her dedication be favorably recorded by Allah SWT, and may all sins and mistakes be forgiven, leading her to the best paradise in the eyes of Allah SWT,” expressed Professor Guntoro.
“Throughout her life, she contributed profound insights to the field of animal husbandry. Her life story attests to her active nature; even after retirement, she produced scholarly works.”
“One of her mottos was to continue learning throughout life with the ultimate goal of a good ending. We pray that she returns to Allah SWT’s paradise in a state of goodness,” added the Chair of the UGM Professor Council, Professor Mohammad Maksum Machfoedz.
