A total of 700 participants participated in a health walk organized by the UGM Employee Corps (Korpagama) on Saturday, October 28. The event was held in commemoration of the 18th anniversary of Korpagama and the 74th anniversary of UGM.
Before the health walk, a group exercise was conducted in the UGM Central Building Courtyard. Several university and faculty leaders participated.
Among them were Vice-Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems, Dr. Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Chair of the 74th UGM Anniversary Celebration Committee, Professor Selo; Chair of the Professor Council, Professor Mochammad Maksum; Chair of Korpagama, Professor Achmadi Priyatmojo; and Chair of the Health Walk Committee, Dr. Asikin Nur, M.Kes.
Dr. Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho expressed hope to the participants to always stay enthusiastic, not just during the health walk but also in their work. The aerobics and health walk event organized by Korpagama was a forum for the UGM academic community to connect.
“This is a platform for communication and togetherness. Through the health walk, we exercise to maintain our fitness and health to support our work at UGM. It is also an opportunity to observe the new campus landscape,” he stated.
By walking for approximately 2 hours within the campus, the vice-rector urged the participants to enjoy the UGM campus environment. The walk allowed participants to step out of their routines and observe the varied campus environment.
“We are discussing, chatting with our fellow Korpagama members, and observing the actual UGM campus. Hopefully, this won’t be a once-a-year event. Employees should be able to enjoy casual workouts and experience our beloved campus whenever they want,” he added.
Professor Achmadi Priyatmojo, the Chair of Korpagama, shared a similar sentiment. Participants were encouraged not only to take part in the health walk but also to explore the UGM campus, including visiting the Korpagama office in Bulaksumur D-6.
He hoped that UGM teaching and non-teaching staff could benefit from the presence of Korpagama. He called for Korpagama members’ participation to further contribute to the welfare of all UGM employees.
“We express our gratitude to all those who have supported, sponsored, and assisted in this event. We hope for a harmonious collaboration to achieve our common goal of UGM’s vision and mission, which is the welfare of our employees,” he emphasized.
Professor Selo hoped that at the age of 74, UGM would continue to make contributions and succeed further. His wish was for UGM staff to prosper and flourish in line with UGM’s vision and mission of soaring high and having a solid foundation.
UGM’s anniversary celebration this year coincides with the election atmosphere. He expressed hopes for a peaceful condition, even with the possibility of differing choices.
“Alhamdulillah, this year, we have many candidates, and four are from UGM. I believe that we are mature enough to avoid factions. Enjoy today’s event, and may we participate well, stay healthy, and don’t forget to be happy,” Professor Selo said.
Musical entertainment from the Padamu UGM accompanied the health walk event. Moreover, 31 prizes were distributed, including bicycles, refrigerators, and washing machines.
