The UGM Faculty of Philosophy Community Service Team, under the grant scheme from the UGM Directorate of Community Service, organized a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) for the millennial generation in the Sosromenduran Village of Yogyakarta City on Sunday (20/8).
The theme of the activity was the implementation of Pancasila values in preventing juvenile delinquency. This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Sosromenduran Village administration and several neighborhood units (RW) in Jogonegeran Village.
The event was attended by more than 35 participants, including middle school and high school students, university students, and working individuals.
Dr. Iva Ariani, the head of the community service team, stated that this activity was a response to inspire the implementation of Pancasila values among the millennial generation amid the rising juvenile delinquency cases, such as brawls, conflicts, and other deviant behaviors.
Shoim Mardiyah, a Faculty of Philosophy lecturer, explained that several factors, including the environment, peer relationships, and social media influence the current wave of juvenile delinquency.
“These factors have an impact on a person’s character quality, requiring special handling such as interpreting and implementing Pancasila values in daily life so that they are reflected through attitudes and actions,” Mardiyah said.
In line with this, Dela Khoirul, another lecturer from the Faculty of Philosophy, added that Pancasila values can serve as a source for behavior norms, thereby fostering wise and prudent behavior.
“In the current era, many young generations exhibit behaviors that lack politeness and etiquette, both in their actions and social media use. Pancasila values can also be implemented in the millennial generation through examples from the immediate environment and habituation,” she explained.
