A total of 1,044 students from 18 faculties participating in the UGM Community Service Program (KKN-PPM) Period 4 of 2025 will begin their community service assignments from 20 December 2025 to 7 February 2026. Organized into 40 units, these students will be deployed across 10 provinces (six outside Java and four in Java), 24 regencies, 39 sub-districts, and 80 villages. UGM Directorate of Community Service (DPkM UGM), the unit responsible for managing the implementation of KKN-PPM, officially held the deployment ceremony at the UGM Nusantara Sports Hall (GOR Nusantara) on Friday (Dec. 19, 2025).
The Director of DPkM UGM, Dr. Rustamaji, stated in his report that during their assignments, KKN-PPM students will be supervised by 40 Field Supervisors (DPL) and seven Regional Coordinators (Korwil).
Meanwhile, a total of 23 partners are collaborating in KKN-PPM Period 4 of 2025, including partners from the central government, regional governments, and other strategic institutions.
“In this period, six international students are participating in KKN-PPM, coming from South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. Welcome to KKN-PPM,” he said.

Carrying the theme “Food Sovereignty and Sustainable Environmental Management,” the program is expected to encourage all KKN-PPM participants to play a greater role in delivering inspiring and sustainable community service across various regions of the country.
“The success of KKN-PPM is our greatest pride. May all programs run smoothly and provide benefits to both the community and each student,” Dr. Rustamaji conveyed to the students.
UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, in her remarks, stated that the deployment ceremony for this period was particularly special as it coincided with UGM’s 76th Anniversary.
She also emphasized that success is determined not only through classroom learning but also through students’ field experience.
“Through KKN-PPM, you are challenged to sharpen your empathy within the community and to develop attitudes toward serving and contributing directly in the field. I remind you to always maintain your health and safety until you return to UGM,” the rector advised.
The deployment ceremony also featured the Indonesian Minister of Transmigration, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, who delivered direct guidance to the students.
According to the minister, KKN-PPM is both highly commendable and prestigious. He further emphasized the importance of students developing problem-solving skills to help communities overcome the challenges they face.

Furthermore, Minister Suryanegara stated that KKN-PPM has inspired the Ministry of Transmigration in creating new pathways for economic growth.
He also noted that the ministry requires collaboration with universities, such as UGM, to assist communities across various regions.
“I urge all students to continue upholding UGM’s good name while in the field. I hope the programs run smoothly, as your ideas and actions will shape public perception,” he said.
Dhea Ulhaq, a 2022 Sociology undergraduate student on the Renjana Rembang Team, expressed her enthusiasm when asked about the deployment ceremony.
Despite consisting of students from different cohorts, Ulhaq shared that she was pleased to be part of a supportive team that works well together.
“I can’t wait to start serving the community in Rembang with my teammates,” she said.

She also expressed her hope that local communities would welcome all UGM teams and that residents would be enthusiastic about participating in the students’ programs.
“Hopefully, the programs we implement will be beneficial and sustainable in the long term,” Ulhaq added.
The Period 4 deployment ceremony this year also invited 23 partner institutions that have collaborated in supporting this community service program.
These partners include the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS), the Ministry of Public Works, the Regional Secretaries of Morotai and Central Buton Regencies, the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Southwest Maluku Regency, and others.
