The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has strengthened its strategic partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) through the provision of merit-based scholarships, internship opportunities for students and lecturers in financial management and bank resolution, and the donation of 60 computer units to the Department of Economics and Business at the UGM Vocational College.
The collaboration is expected to nurture future talents while advancing data-driven economic research through strategic academic cooperation.
Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of LPS, Professor Anggito Abimanyu, stated that LPS’s support for education forms part of its efforts to reinforce strategic collaboration with both universities. He noted that there are currently 44 student interns at LPS, along with a one-month internship program designed for junior lecturers to provide firsthand experience in decision-making processes and bank resolution management.
“They truly gain knowledge and firsthand experience,” said Professor Anggito on Friday at the UGM Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK UGM).

Regarding the allocation of scholarships, he explained that the process is conducted transparently, taking into account the number of accounts, the number of alumni employed at LPS, and the universities’ special programs. The premiums managed by LPS may be invested in education, health, and infrastructure sectors, which are expected to directly enhance educational quality and foster a better campus ecosystem for students.
According to Professor Anggito, the scholarship program reflects LPS’s commitment to delivering tangible impact through the professional management of social funds.
“Students gain strong skills and supporting infrastructure. Ultimately, the allocation of social funds and partnerships must be measurable and conducted objectively,” he said.
UGM Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Cooperation, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, expressed deep appreciation to LPS for providing scholarships, internship opportunities, and educational infrastructure, including 60 computer units, for the Department of Economics and Business at UGM’s Vocational College (SV UGM). He noted that the program is essential in enabling students to gain real-world exposure, particularly in the financial sector.

Danang emphasized that research is the “lifeblood” of higher education institutions. He expressed hope that LPS could serve as a “laboratory” for university researchers to study the latest cases in financial innovation through strategic research collaboration.
“We hope to further strengthen collaboration, including research partnerships, educational programs, and other joint initiatives that we can build together,” he said.
In addition to the scholarship award ceremony, a research cooperation document was signed by Seto Wardono, Director of the LPS Research Group, with UGM represented by Elan Satriawan and UNS represented by Professor Irwan Trinugroho.
The event concluded with the symbolic handover of LPS scholarships to representatives of the third cohort of recipients in 2026. The LPS scholarship provides tuition assistance and a living allowance of IDR 9 million per semester.
