Former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of Indonesia, Professor Mohammad Mahfud MD, delivered a public lecture to hundreds of new students at the UGM Faculty of Law (FH UGM) on Wednesday (Jul. 31) in the Auditorium of Building B, FH UGM.
This public lecture, organized by Pionir Justicia, was themed “Justicia Muda Katalisator Harmoni Kecerdasan Bangsa” (Young Justice Catalysts for National Intelligence Harmony).
Mahfud emphasized five conditions necessary for Indonesia to achieve its vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045). He highlighted the importance of a sovereign state and fair law enforcement among these points.
“Society must adhere to legal norms and established regulations. The vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 will not be realizedif society continues to violate legal norms,” Mahfud stated.
In addition to society, he added that law enforcers must also possess moral intelligence. Therefore, Mahfud MD urged the new law students, as future law enforcers, to consistently develop moral intelligence.
According to him, legal work requires intellectual and moral intelligence to uphold justice in Indonesia.
“Morality should never be neglected; law cannot be separated from moral intelligence,” he asserted.
The second public lecture session featured Rahmat Shah, the father of celebrity Raline Shah and a conservationist. He shared his insights on achieving success and prosperity, aiming to motivate the new students to remain enthusiastic in their endeavors.
He says the key to success lies in hard work, high discipline, and focus on goals. Rahmat Shah also reminded students always to seek the best outcomes from God Almighty.
“With balanced effort and religiosity, one can face challenges and catch up with other countries,” he remarked.
This public lecture is expected to inspire Young Justicia at the beginning of their journey as students and future nation leaders. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal of Quality Education.
