Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has established a strategic partnership with Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Inc. in the areas of education, research, and healthcare service innovation. Through its subsidiary, Mayapada Healthcare Group (MHG), both parties have agreed to support development efforts to improve the quality of human resources, science and technology, and healthcare services.
The UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, welcomed the establishment of this strategic partnership as a means to strengthen the collaborative ecosystem between higher education institutions and the healthcare service industry while also encouraging research innovation.

In the field of education, the Rector explained that the collaboration includes opportunities for MHG’s prospective specialist doctors to receive education and training at the UGM campus. Conversely, UGM resident students will undertake clinical education and training at Mayapada Hospital units.
The partnership also covers continuing education for healthcare professionals in nursing, pharmacy, and nutrition; the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Health Information Management; the Master’s Program in Occupational Safety and Health (K3); the Master’s Program in Hospital Management; and doctoral programs.

In the research sector, the collaboration includes joint medical research, including but not limited to clinical trials for pharmaceuticals and stem cell research. UGM–MHG research cooperation will also focus on developing healthcare technologies, including but not limited to medical devices, telehealth, healthcare service protocols, and the use of healthcare big data, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine for education, research, and healthcare services. In addition, the partnership will also support the development of personalized healthcare services.
In community service, the collaboration will include developing clinical services and service innovations through academic-based clinical procedures and interventions grounded in evidence-based medicine. It will also involve collaboration on Centers of Excellence integrated with education and research, as well as strengthening referral networks and academic services between UGM and Mayapada Hospital units.

The President, Director, and CEO of Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Inc., Navin Sonthalia, stated that the signing of the agreement between Mayapada Group and UGM marks an important first step toward building collaboration between educational institutions and industry.
“For us, today is significant because it marks the beginning of a collaboration that we hope will provide real contributions to education, research, and healthcare services in Indonesia,” Navin said.
He added that rapid technological advancements are raising patients’ expectations for better opportunities to achieve health and recovery. In such circumstances, collaboration between academia, research, and healthcare services becomes increasingly important.
