Narasi, in collaboration with Grab, held the Generasi Campus Roadshow at UGM featuring three guest stars: novelist Dee Lestari, journalist and TV host Najwa Shihab, and actor Nicholas Saputra, at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP), Tuesday (Sep. 10).
UGM Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sudjito, welcomed the event, which aimed to motivate and inspire UGM students with creative ideas for the youth.
“Events like this stimulate the creative ideas of young people, which is essential, and the presence of these three figures will hopefully inspire us all,” he said.
During the talk show “POV XYZ: Generasi Bicara Generasi,” the three guest stars shared their life experiences with the students as part of a cross-generational dialogue to motivate them to become better individuals.
One of the topics discussed was passion, where young people must work hard and persist in pursuing their passion.
“Passion isn’t something you dream of overnight. It’s not like turning 17, getting your ID, and suddenly finding your passion. Passion needs to be pursued,” said Nicholas Saputra.
Najwa Shihab added that passion is not solely about joy but also about challenging and testing experiences. Despite this, young people should remain enthusiastic and not give up on their dreams, starting with small things that could lead to greater accomplishments in the future.
“Small things can grow into something big and become a passion,” she explained.
All three guest stars agreed that the generational gap should not be a barrier between the older and younger generations but rather a bridge. Empathy is crucial for each generation to collaborate in their work to address the generation gap.
Additionally, having the humility to learn from different generations is key to ensuring smooth collaboration in any profession.
