Najwa Fitria Sugiarto, a new student in the Statistics program at the UGM Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UGM), has achieved an impressive feat.
Amidst her busy schedule with PIONIR Gadjah Mada (the university’s orientation), she won first place at the Miss Bantul pageant on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024.
Najwa outshone 24 finalists in the competition’s final round. Additionally, she won two other categories: Miss Bantul Education and Miss Bantul Entrepreneurship.
In a statement about her achievement, Najwa expressed her gratitude for being named Miss Bantul.
“I am very grateful and honored to be selected as Miss Bantul 2024. This experience is meaningful to me as a personal journey and an opportunity to contribute to the community and showcase Bantul’s economic, MSME, and cultural richness,” Najwa said on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Najwa shared that she underwent a rigorous selection process from May 27 to Aug. 3, 2024 to win. The events included training, social activities, and cultural exhibitions.
The training involved organizational material, motivational classes, public speaking, modeling, photography, and various other preparations provided by the Bantul Regency Government.
During the social activities, finalists participated in community service and environmental campaigns. Participants introduced local wealth and potential to the public in the cultural exhibition.
“I learned much from fellow participants, organizers, and judges throughout the selection process. The enthusiastic and friendly atmosphere made me feel more confident and motivated to do my best,” Najwa said, noting her past successes in academic and entertainment fields.
Najwa hopes this event will inspire more women to be confident and pursue their dreams. As a winner, she intends to use her title to engage in more social activities and reach out to the community, especially in the education and environmental fields.
