
The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Pharmacy UGM) celebrated its 79th Anniversary with an Open Senate Meeting under the theme “Pharmacy Transformation: Innovation, Collaboration, and Sustainability” held at the Pharmacy Auditorium on Friday (Sep. 26).
UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, extended her congratulations on Pharmacy UGM’s 79th Anniversary. She emphasized that transformation is a necessity in pharmaceutical sciences, requiring comprehensive adaptation to align with global ecosystem changes.
“The Faculty of Pharmacy has been highly adaptive in responding to public health challenges to shape the future of healthcare services. Despite the many challenges that remain, these achievements demonstrate the faculty’s strong commitment,” said Professor Emilia.
She also commended Pharmacy UGM’s outstanding accomplishments, including its first-place ranking in the EduRank Best Universities for Pharmacy 2025. Additionally, two Pharmacy scholars were named among the Top 2% of World Scientists in 2025.
“These achievements highlight the faculty’s commitment to realizing its vision and mission as a pioneer of excellent, innovative higher education in pharmacy that makes a meaningful impact in addressing future health challenges,” she added.
Delivering a scientific oration titled “Standardization and Transformation in Pharmacy”, Kukuh S. Achmad, Principal Standardization Analyst, National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (BSN) and an alumnus of Pharmacy UGM Class of 1983, underlined the importance of the three pillars of national quality infrastructure: standardization, conformity assessment, and metrology.
He stressed that introducing standardization in higher education, including in pharmacy, is a strategic step to support the transformation of science and education.
“Standardization is essential not only in research and technology but also in the academic and educational spheres,” said Achmad.
Dean of Pharmacy UGM, Professor Satibi, in his report, conveyed that eight out of ten performance indicators in the Student Creativity Program (PKM), collaboration, and alumni engagement have already been achieved, with some exceeding 100%, and progress is expected to continue through the end of 2025.
“We hope this report serves as an inspiration and motivation to continue advancing, innovating with synergy, integrity, and alignment, while further strengthening collaboration,” said Professor Satibi.
