UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, officially opened the 2025 Universitas Gadjah Mada Sports and Arts Weeks (Porsenigama) on Saturday (Oct. 18) at the Pancasila Sports Hall. The competition will run from Oct. 18 to Nov. 29, featuring 23 sports and 14 arts categories.
This year’s Porsenigama carries the theme “Jejak Masa, Bekal Untuk Melaju” (Traces of the Past, Foundation for Progress), reflecting the timeless values passed down through generations to foster unity, sportsmanship, and personal growth among the UGM academic community.
Professor Emilia welcomed the event’s implementation, emphasizing its role in enhancing students’ artistic and athletic potential, which she said balances both right- and left-brain competencies.
“Porsenigama is not merely a competition but a platform to nurture togetherness, solidarity, sportsmanship, and creativity. It is expected to produce outstanding athletes and artists who will represent UGM at national and international levels,” she stated.
The rector also reminded participants to uphold harmony and integrity throughout the event.
“Use this competition as a learning process and a means to strengthen character,” she added.

The General Coordinator of Porsenigama 2025, Fatrian Ramadhani, reported that this year’s event involves 20 faculty and school contingents, comprising 4,231 athletes and 651 artists, totaling 4,882 student participants.
Additionally, 896 students serve as committee members, consisting of 271 on the Central Committee, 461 in sports divisions, and 164 in arts divisions.
The competition features 23 sports, including karate, kempo, swimming, diving, football, e-sports, table tennis, pencak silat, softball, equestrian, futsal, chess, badminton, basketball, bridge, orienteering, hockey, taekwondo, judo, archery, tennis, volleyball, and athletics.
The 14 arts categories include monologue, photography, traditional painting, comic strip, poetry reading, playwriting, digital poster design, modern dance, vocal group, traditional dance, classical singing, art exhibition, keroncong singing, and band performance.

The opening ceremony was attended by the UGM Rector, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, the Director of Student Affairs, Deans from UGM faculties and schools, and more than 1,000 student spectators.
The evening featured vibrant performances showcasing UGM students’ artistic talents and creativity.
The faculty parade highlighted each faculty’s unique identity through distinctive costumes and attributes representing athletic and artistic spirit. The atmosphere grew livelier as each contingent marched across the main field, cheered by enthusiastic audiences.
Following the parade, the event continued with the Integrity Pact Declaration, symbolizing a collective commitment to uphold honesty, sportsmanship, and fair play throughout the competition.
With the signing of the Integrity Pact, all participants are encouraged to view Porsenigama not merely as a contest but as a means to strengthen interfaculty solidarity and nurture a spirit of unity across the campus community.
