The equestrian competition at the Pekan Olahraga dan Seni Universitas Gadjah Mada (Porsenigama) added a layer of enthusiasm and sportsmanship at Araya Stable Godean, Yogyakarta, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025. Dressed in black jackets with white trousers, complete with helmets and riding whips in hand, the competitors eagerly completed the stages of the horse-riding contest. The one-day event featured three contest categories: World Cup 3, Velim Jerman, and Jumping 40-60 cm.
Virgie Istnaini Amalia Rosyida, Chair of the Sports Branch Committee from the UGM Equestrian Club, reported that 14 participants from various faculties at UGM participated in the World Cup 3 category.
Meanwhile, 5 participants contested the Velim Jerman category, and 6 participants contested the Jumping 40-60 cm category.
These three categories were run with high energy, showcasing the young athletes’ ability to control their horses with precision and elegance.
“We hope from this competition that UGM will produce new athletes, and the participants will grow to love horse-riding sport more. We also hope spectators and managers present will be inspired to try horse-riding,” she said.

One of the participants, Delviana Namira, commonly called Viana, a student from the 2024 cohort of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, shared her experience after competing.
“Honestly, I was really nervous because I was third in line, but overall it was good. After trying, I got the result I expected. There was a little mistake earlier, but so far I’m happy and excited,” Viana expressed enthusiastically.
She also described her training process leading up to the competition.
She revealed that she underwent intensive practice nearly every day for about two weeks.
“Before the competition, I regularly trained with the coach. I really appreciate all my teammates who have competed,” she concluded.
