Professor Irfan Dwidya Prijambada, a distinguished professor at the UGM Faculty of Agriculture, has been honored with the Global Alumni Fellow by Osaka University. This accolade was presented to him at Osaka University on Friday (Jan. 19).
The recognition was bestowed by Executive Vice President of Osaka University Manabu Tanaka, who oversees global engagement at the university.
The Global Alumni Fellow title is reserved for esteemed Osaka University alumni who demonstrate remarkable engagement on an international scale, fostering global connections.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Global Alumni Fellow from Osaka University, recognizing my international endeavors in fostering global networks,” remarked Professor Prijambada on Tuesday (Feb. 6).
Professor Prijambada expressed gratitude for being awarded this distinction as a doctoral graduate of Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering.
He has been instrumental in advancing collaborative research in applied microbiology, particularly through exchanges with the International Center for Biotechnology (ICBiotech).
Since 2015, serving as an overseas visiting professor at ICBiotech, he has actively contributed to various initiatives, including facilitating student exchanges through the Sakura Science Program and conducting English language courses.
During the ceremony, Executive Vice President Tanaka underscored the award’s significance and sought continued collaboration from Professor Prijambada in bridging educational and research endeavors between Japan and Indonesia, further strengthening the network of Osaka University alumni actively involved in Indonesia.
The award ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed figures, including Director Kazuhito Fujiyama (ICBiotech); Professor Kohsuke Honda (ICBiotech); Vice Dean Takeshi Omasa (Graduate School of Engineering), Professor Eiichiro Fukuzaki (Graduate School of Engineering), and Regional Director Kiyoshi Fujita (ASEAN Academic Initiative Center).
“I had the privilege of engaging in insightful discussions with the attendees, covering a wide array of topics ranging from my student life and research experiences at Osaka University to fostering student exchange programs,” shared Professor Prijambada.
