Professor Sri Sulihtyowati Soebagyo, a distinguished faculty member of the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy (Pharmacy UGM), passed away on Tuesday (May 7) at 00:25 WIB at MMC Hospital in Jakarta at the age of 82 years and five months.
She was laid to rest in the UGM Cemetery in Sawit Sari on Tuesday (May 7) at 15:00 WIB, following a memorial ceremony held at Balairung UGM.
The Chair of the UGM Board of Professors, Professor Moch Maksum, expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Professor Sri Sulihtyowati Soebagyo, praying for strength and resilience so that her family can continue her legacy.
Professor Maksum remembered her as a scientist who firmly believed that a scientist’s or lecturer’s education should be linear and aligned with their field of study, from undergraduate to doctoral levels.
“According to her, a scientist must stay true to their path and not deviate,” said Professor Maksum, encouraging colleagues and students to follow her exemplary dedication in academics and expertise in pharmacy.
Professor Soebagyo was appointed a professor at Pharmacy UGM on November 18, 2000, and her inaugural speech was titled “Tablets as a Manifestation of the Role of Pharmaceutical Technology in Drug Delivery.”
Born in Surabaya on November 25, 1941, she completed her undergraduate and professional education at Pharmacy UGM and earned her doctoral degree from the University of Queensland, Australia.
She began her career as a lecturer on August 1, 1970, dedicating 37 years and seven months to teaching at Pharmacy UGM.
