Talented singer Putri Ariani, a new UGM Faculty of Law student, enlivened the 2024 PIONIR Gadjah Mada Muda closing ceremony on Saturday (Aug. 3) at the Pancasila field.
Putri Ariani performed two of her songs, “Mimpiku” and “Who I Am,” along with a special song dedicated by the PIONIR Gadjah Mada committee.
Additionally, UGM Rector Professor Ova Emilia, Vice Rector Professor Wening Udasmoro, and Head of the Strategic Management Bureau, Dr. Wirastuti Widyatmanti, presented a collaborative rendition of “UGM Kampusku Tercinta,” composed by Agus Wahyudi.
One characteristic of the closing activities of the UGM campus orientation period from year to year is the formation. However, this year’s PIONIR Gadjah Mada introduced an idea for an interactive celebratory formation using four colors, themed “Gadjah Mada Collaboration: A Superior Generation of Indonesia.”
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni Dr. Arie Sujito expressed his hope that the new students, known as Gamada, will embrace a spirit of collaboration, accompanied by a strong desire to enhance their quality and benefit others.
“The PIONIR Gadjah Mada event provides a foundation for students to become pioneers and initiators in both academic and non-academic environments, fostering a sense of care, sensitivity, and high empathy towards fellow academics and their surroundings,” he said.
Dr. Sujito added that as Gamada, they are expected to uphold the motto of “Sang Juara” as the crystallization of Gadjah Mada’s values. He also reminded them to remain adaptive and make greater contributions to society in the future.
The closing of PIONIR Gadjah Mada was symbolized by the placement of a chess miniature by the UGM Rector and the General Coordinator of PIONIR Gadjah Mada.
“Alhamdulillah, PIONIR Gadjah Mada 2024 is officially closed, and with bismillah, the Action Plan is initiated,” concluded Professor Emilia.
The Action Plan will be carried out as a form of real action by Gamada for society from Aug. 4–10, 2024. This activity aims to provide a creative space and realize tangible and beneficial ideas for the community by implementing UGM’s values.
The Action Plan also manifests UGM’s commitment to waste management and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
