PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Consulting Indonesia has officially opened a new office in Yogyakarta, located at Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK UGM), on Tuesday (Oct. 21). The opening marks an important milestone for PwC Consulting in expanding its network in Indonesia while strengthening collaboration between industry and academia.
The grand launching event took place at the GIK UGM Student Center and was attended by executives from PwC South-East Asia Consulting, PwC Indonesia, and UGM leadership, along with invited students.
The establishment of PwC Consulting Yogyakarta on the “Blue Campus” is expected to open up opportunities for students and digital talents from Central Java and surrounding regions to gain professional training, hands-on experience, and broader global exposure.
UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, expressed her appreciation for the newly established collaboration. She emphasized that PwC Consulting’s presence on campus represents a tangible manifestation of synergy between academia and industry.
“Every year we talk about link and match, yet few initiatives truly realize collaboration between universities and industry. With PwC Consulting now at GIK, this partnership becomes more concrete. It offers opportunities not only for students but also for young people eager to grow,” said Professor Emilia.
The rector hopes that this partnership will serve as a benchmark, demonstrating that universities and industries can effectively collaborate in developing world-class human resources ready to become global leaders.

Simon Gealy, CEO of PwC South-East Asia Consulting, expressed his gratitude to Universitas Gadjah Mada for the opportunity to open a new PwC Consulting office within GIK. He highlighted Indonesia’s vast potential for development through cross-sector collaboration.
“Indonesia has a very large population, and we are here in Yogyakarta to help students connect with industry. We invite them to join PwC and be part of the change,” he stated in his speech delivered in English.

Eddy Rintis, Territory Senior Partner of PwC Consulting Indonesia, underscored that the establishment of PwC Consulting’s Yogyakarta office is a strategic move aligned with PwC’s commitment to human resource development in Indonesia. Yogyakarta, known as a hub of culture and education, was chosen for its remarkable potential.
“This new office is not merely about business expansion, but also a long-term effort to strengthen PwC’s contribution to education,” he explained.
The event also featured a panel discussion titled “Future of Work and Digital Career: Preparing Today for the Jobs of Tomorrow”, featuring experts from diverse backgrounds, including Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, Vice Rector for Research, Business Development, and Partnerships at UGM, as well as PwC Consulting Indonesia executives such as Nadina Adeela (Strategy & Operations Partner), Margono Wibowo (SAP Business Partner), and Lita Dewi (Workforce Transformation Partner).
The discussion, moderated by Dela Khurniasari, Director of the Financial Services Strategy and Operations Team, highlighted the importance of empathy, digital skills, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in navigating industrial transformation in the era of artificial intelligence.

The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of PwC Consulting Yogyakarta at GIK UGM, signifying a new chapter in the collaboration between Universitas Gadjah Mada and PwC Consulting Indonesia.
